چکیده

Channidae Family is a predatory fish in Central Kalimantan. This fish also possesses high albumin and complete amino acid content that useful for health, particularly in wound healing. Channidae Family includes Gabus (Channa striatus), Toman (Channa micropeltes), Kerandang (Channa pleurophthalmus), and Mihau (Channa maculata). However, the phylogenetic relationship between these snakehead fishes in this area has not been determined yet. This study was aimed to assess the genetic variations of Channidae Family in Central Kalimantan using 16S rRNA gene. Fish samples were Toman, kerandang, gabus and mihau collected from Central Kalimantan. Results showed that Gabus, Kerandang, Toman and Mihau were grouped in Channa genus with varied genetic distance among species, and have a close relationship based on its mitochondrial DNA marker. Key-Words: Channidae, 16s rRNA gene, genetic variation

Genetic variations of avian Pasteurella multocida as demonstrated by 16S-23S rRNA gene sequences comparison

Pasteurella multocida is known as an important heterogenic bacterial agent causes some severe diseases such as fowl cholera in poultry and haemorrhagic septicaemia in cattle and buffalo. A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was developed using primers derived from conserved part of 16S-23S rRNA gene. The PCR amplified a fragment size of 0.7 kb using DNA from nine avian P. multocida  isolates...

Molecular Detection of Novel Genetic Variants Associated to Anaplasma ovis among Dromedary Camels in Iran

To the best of our knowledge, little information is available regarding the presence of Anaplasma species in camels in Iran. This study sought to investigate the presence of Anaplasma species by microscopy and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays in 100 healthy dromedaries (Camelus dromedarius) arriving for slaughter. The microscopic examination of Giemsa-stained blood films revealed that Ana...

Genetic Transformation of Amylase Gene to Ruminal Bacteroides Species Using Conjugation Consequence for Improvement of Rumen Enzyme

Rumen bacterial strains can potentially be manipulated to perform functions different from wild type species. The most numerous species of bacteria in the rumen and gut are species of the familyBacteroidetes, whichcan have the potential for genetic modification for enzyme production. One of the genetic manipulation of rumen bacteria can perform for production of starch digestive enzyme for the ...

Genetic Characterization of Argas persicus From Iran by Sequencing of Mitochondrial Cytochrome Oxidase I (COX1) and 16s rRNA Genes

Background: Argas persicus has a great importance for health and veterinary, it can transmit many infectious agents such as Borrelia anserina (avian spirochetosis) and Aegyptianella pullorum. Distinguishing Argasidae due to close morphological relationship is difficult. OBJECTIVES: In the present study, we performed molecular analyses based on PCR and sequencing of Amplicon derived from 16S rRN...

Characterisation of Asian Snakehead Murrel Channa striata (Channidae) in Malaysia: An Insight into Molecular Data and Morphological Approach

Conservation is imperative for the Asian snakeheads Channa striata, as the species has been overfished due to its high market demand. Using maternal markers (mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene (COI)), we discovered that evolutionary forces that drove population divergence did not show any match between the genetic and morphological divergence pattern. However, there is evidence o...
